The trip happened.
The story didn't.
Now it does.

You took the photographs, flew the flights and ran the runs. We put them in order and write the trip day by day, in sentences worth reading again.

Watch a trip write itself

  1. Everything you already haveIt starts on your phone.Photographs, flights, runs and the bookings you forward. We gather them. Even from a trip years ago.
  2. Sorted into daysSixteen days, in order. Each day gets its place, its photographs and what you did, without you typing a thing.
  3. Written for youA chapter for every day.In sentences worth reading again. Texture, yes. Invented events, never.
  4. Where it wentEvery place, on one map.Sized by how long you stayed, joined by the way you went.
  5. RewindThen watch it again. The camera rides the duck, low over the real hills, then pulls back to the whole trip.

What we won't do

Texture, yes.
Events, no.

We'll say the light was low and the path was empty, because it was. We won't invent the restaurant, the conversation or the meal. When the record goes quiet, the story says so. And when we can't know, we ask you. Scroll on, and you'll see where.

The story

Every line knows where it came from.

Written from the photographs you kept. Scroll, and each line shows you the one it came from.

Day two · Tuesday 23 January

Tiber Forum Rooftops

I began around the Colosseum in the blue hour, with the arches and the Arch of Constantine lit against the last of the night.

The cobbles were wet and the approaches almost empty. From there the river drew me north, past stone bridges and their reflections.

07:5013:20

Five and a half hours with nothing in them. We leave the gap, and ask.

A question about Tuesday 23 January

What were you doing between 07:50 and 13:20?

The last photograph is by the Tiber at 07:50. The next is at 13:20.

Answer, and it becomes part of the story. Leave it, and we never ask twice.

What occupied the later part of the morning has faded, but by midday it was time to change hotels.

Drinks on the rooftop again in the afternoon, which is becoming the shape of this trip. A gull came close enough to inspect proceedings with the confidence of something accustomed to terraces and unattended food.

Dinner somewhere small and loud and cheap, and none the worse for it. I never kept the restaurant's name.

Plan the next one

01 · Say where, roughly when

Start with a feeling.

A place and rough dates is enough. We find the flights and draft the days, and you keep what you like.

In the air

Flying soon? Start with the flight.

Track a flight on its own. Check-in, the gate, the countdown and the belt, on your lock screen, and still moving when there's no wi-fi. Keep scrolling to fly it.

The people you travel with

One trip, not four camera rolls.

Invite the people who were there. Their photographs land on the same days, and the story is written from all of them.

The rest of the trip

The useful things, in the same place.

  • Nights with nowhere to sleep, counted before you go.
  • Weather on the days ahead.
  • Costs read from your receipts, in the currency you spent and the one you count in.
  • Phrases for where you're going.
  • A map for every day, lit for the hour it happened.
  • An evening look-back, only on days with something in them.

Your trips are private unless you share them.
